The Challenges

From 2009 to 2014 I was employed by Sony Music London as a Service and Product designer. There was no singular challenge, but multiple challenges and projects over 5 years of being a freelance digital designer. This ranged from apps and websites for leading artists of the time, branding and gaming concepts, and presentations to woo the biggest names in the biz.

The Solution

Week in week out the range of work varied from brand design, to initial UX strategy to liaising with development to ensure that the designs would be easily built online. One of the many sites was for Susan Boyle after she initially catapulted onto the world stage. This site received millions of hits every week. The most important task was the goal of creating a community for whatever artist, so they could engage and re-engage on album or song release, increasing the fan base, and ultimately sell records.

Above is group JLS. Typical of many platforms built over this time, the core focus was on driving community, traffic and sales, with a 'news' style layout that drip-fed constant information to the user.
